We were born with toes for a reason. Mother Nature, or God, or The Higher Power…whatever you want to call it…made us perfect. He/She/It gave us everything we need. Shoes were not included in that. I do not believe that God said, “Ok, I’m going to create these humans, & every body part will function well except for their feet. They will have to figure out that they need to invent & wear shoes.” No, no. God made us perfectly. Every inch of us. (D. Chillemi) (note — Even if you are an atheist I think you can appreciate the brilliance of what Danielle has to say here. We evolved over millions of years and our barefoot ancestors were able to physically survive and even thrive just fine without footwear as their feet adapted to their wide-ranging environments.)

Your feet, just like the rest of your body, need to be toned and stretched in their natural state: barefoot. You don’t wear your work clothes to run, walk, or go to the gym in do you? You wear something loose and comfortable. So why would your wear shoes when you exercise your feet? (Tourles)

Walking with bare feet brings attention to your feet, one of the hardest working, most under appreciated body parts. They’re not ugly, they’re not offensive, and they’re not immoral. They deserve to be allowed out to smile at the world. Let them smile everywhere.

The nerve endings on the bottom of the feet sense the ground beneath and send signals to the brain that help it determine how and where weight should be distributed with each new step. Shoes alter that feedback to the brain.

Having your feet free of confining, hot, sweaty shoes, open to the air and sunshine, able to wiggle your toes, able to feel the various textures and temperatures of surfaces as you walk, is wonderful. It is one of life’s most simple pleasures and is part of what it means to be human.

What spirit is so empty and blind, that it cannot grasp the fact that a human foot is more noble than the shoe, and human skin more beautiful than the garment with which it is clothed.–[Michelangelo] —

History tells us that humans who wear shoes are more likely to view shoes as a covering that must meet fashion standards or workplace standards, rather than as important pieces of protection for the foundation of the body.

shoes are tested on machines, not people, because machines give the results the shoe company wants and people don’t. A quick look in the medical journals will point out the abundant problems.

A few people say that they don’t want to see feet while they are eating. This is an interesting, but entirely nonsensical neurosis. Feet, hands, toes, fingers … what’s the difference? In any case, apparently “acceptable” sandals often cover little more of the feet … an indication that there is really no logic at work here. We really don’t have to buy into such an illogical neurosis.

Being barefoot may well be part of an active lifestyle open to new experiences.

You invest some courage in this liberty and regain a lot of well-being and self-confidence.

Don’t forget, it is not your shoes that enable you to walk but your feet !
Feet support the body weight, and allow one to stand up and to move. Therefore, they require a minimum of care and attention.

We all have eyes to see, ears to hear, hands to hold, and feet to walk with. Let’s reconsider what we think is “appropriate” and remember what makes us human. Let’s stop judging each other by what’s on our feet and, instead, embrace each others unique qualities. We might just be happier for it.

Feet are beautiful by nature, a true masterpiece of evolution, and everyone should feel comfortable showing their feet. More importantly, everyone should be ok with seeing bare feet. It’s natural.

What a sinister, strange world we live in where people let out a repulsed “Yuck!” at the thought of bare…feet. The feet that we were born with. The feet that allow us to travel from A to B. The feet that will get us through a hard day’s work.

There is nothing yucky about feet.

dont worry***

We who regularly live without shoes have found that our feet in their innate condition function very well.
